August: Back to Rehearsal

With the change in seasons comes a brief artistic breather between producing and assisting— and then I’m headed to midtown and Off-Broadway for my next project. I hope to see you at the theatre this fall!

Most Recently: Ladies & Fools Festivals

After a busy summer of directing and producing, that’s a wrap on All the Daughters of Viola’s House and Fools in the Forest! Many, many thanks to everyone who attended or supported these productions, we loved reimagining the classics with you.

You can still explore materials about those projects on the Ladies & Fools section of my website, and read a lovely review of Fools in the Forest here. I look forward to continuing to develop these plays, so stay tuned for updates on future presentations.

But first…

Up Next: The Devil’s Disciple with Gingold Theatrical Group

I’m thrilled to get back to assistant directing for a larger-scale production, and this time it will be Off-Broadway! Gingold Theatrical Group, a non-profit theatre company focusing on activist theatre with playwright George Bernard Shaw as our guide, will be presenting The Devil’s Disciple at Theatre Row (410 W 42nd Street) from October 15 through November 23. Set during the American Revolution, this rebellious comedy introduces us to a memorable cast of characters as they discover they can be more than the roles society has cast them in. Staying true to the heart and commentary of Shaw’s text, our production (adapted and directed by David Staller) streamlines the story to be told by a cast of five women in a fresh reimagining for today.

We head into rehearsal in just a few weeks and tickets are already on sale! I’m eager to return to a complete rehearsal process and dig into this rich text with our cast.

Current & Upcoming Recap

Updates on a few projects I've referenced in past posts!

  • My contribution to this year’s Premiere the Play season, the Shakespeare-inspired rom-com The Puck Project, is now streaming wherever you listen to podcasts. You can also vote for the play to be produced at Hollywood Fringe next year!

  • With fall around the corner, a new edition of the Expand the Canon list will be coming your way soon, this year spotlighting short and one-act plays by female and nonbinary playwrights across history. We’re currently at work on the dramaturgical materials to accompany the list announcement.
